Another cherished icon has passed away, sending South Africa into deep sadness. The sudden death of rapper and composer Costa Tsobanoglou, better known by his stage name Costa Titch, has left the country in mourning.
While playing at the Ultra South Africa music event in Johannesburg, the 27-year-old fell ill and passed away. Footage of the teenage musician passing out on stage while performing one of his songs went popular on social media.
He slumped again and was unable to stand up despite being promptly raised by his security crew and continuing to perform. Festival attendees were spotted coming to his aid in an effort to assist him. One of the biggest stars in the South African music industry was Costa Titch. The famed musician Akon’s record label, Konvict Kulture, just signed him to a contract.
With his successful songs “Big Flexa,” “Nkalakatha,” and “Active,” Costa has greatly increased his recognition for his contributions to the Amapiano genre. On YouTube, “Big Flexa” alone had received over 45 million views, and a remix with American musician Akon was just recently made available.
There hasn’t yet been any formal confirmation of Costa Titch’s death’s cause. Yet many musicians, music platforms, and politicians have offered their condolences, including Julius Sello Malema, a South African lawmaker.
Costa Titch children: Did Costa Titch have kids?
Titch’s private life was quite secretive; there is little evidence to support the idea that he had any children. He was committed to advancing his musical career and has been working closely with other South African musicians, such as AKA and Riky Rick.
Titch, whose fame was growing and whose aesthetic was distinctive, was undoubtedly an artist to watch in the coming years.
