Producers initially proposed the show to the Roppos as a sibling competition program with a dating element. Just before filming started, the Roppos learned that it would be a reality dating show with Netflix as the broadcaster.
The Roppos are shown in the series as being kind and caring, despite Joey’s gentle rebuttal of Corrina’s representation of their pre-show love lives.
They hoped to begin new careers by leveraging their success on reality television.
