Was Connor Smith Arrested For Rape Charges?

According to investigators, Illinois resident Connor Smith was arrested on Thursday on charges of flying to Hobart last summer to rape and sexually attack a 16-year-old girl he met online.

Connor was taken into custody and sent to the Cook County Jail, where he will remain until extradited to Lake County.

Smith was identified when the girl’s relative told authorities his license plate number when he dropped her off. According to DNA tests, Sith was the most likely match with the girl’s sexual assault kit.

On December 10, he was arrested and charged with felony rape, sexual violence, and two charges of criminal confinement.

He’s accused of pulling or guiding the girl back to the bed, forcing her to perform a sex act, strangling her for resisting, and then rapping her once more.

According to court papers, the girl initially said Smith dragged her out of a window at her Hobart home by her hair before the alleged rape, but she later claimed she made up that part of the story because she didn’t want to get in trouble for sneaking out.
