Police say the driver left the scene but later surrendered. Investigators said Treu admitted to inhaling chemical vapors, also known as huffing, before the crash.

“I saw what Colten Treu did. I never saw brake lights. What I heard was acceleration. Acceleration through body by body,” said Autumn Helgeson’s mother. “My child’s life was sacrificed for an air-duster high that he couldn’t wait seven minutes for.”

She was born Fiona Apple McAfee-Maggart in New York, New York on September 13, 1977. Her father is an actor, her mother is a singer, both of whom experienced a moderate level of success in their respective fields. She studied classical music growing up and was composing pieces on the piano by the age of 8. Fiona Apple took the music world by storm in the mid-90s, while still in her late teens. A friend passed her three-song demo to a music publicist, who then passed it on to an executive at Sony Records. She signed with the label in 1996, and released her first album soon after. Her debut album, entitled “Tidal”, was a huge success. It sold almost 3 million copies and was certified triple Platinum. The track, “Criminal”, became a radio hit and earned her a Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Her outspoken attitude created problems with the press, however, and she canceled many of her concert dates, which earned her a reputation as being a difficult performer with which to work. She released a second album in 1999, which was critically successful, but suffered commercially, selling only 1 million copies. Her third album, released three years later, was the subject of great controversy, when it was leaked in its entirety online, after it appeared that Sony was going to shelve the project. It was eventually released and was subsequently certified Gold. Her fourth album “The Idler Wheel” was released in 2012. Fiona retreated from studio album production between 2012 and 2020. During this time she continued to compose music, mainly one-off singles, including the theme song for the Showtime series “The Affair” which debuted in 2014. She also continued to perform concerts somewhat regularly. Finally on April 17, 2020 Fiona released her fifth studio album, “Fetch the Bolt Cutters”.
