Is Cocaine Bear Based On A True Story?
The story of the Cocaine Bear is based on true events.
In the trailer, we see the bear consuming cocaine and creating havoc by injuring and killing people near a Georgia forest, but the real version of the story is not this much.
In 1985, when the investigators were searching for cocaine dropped by an airborne smuggler, they found 40 packages of cocaine that were ripped open and dispersed all over a hillside. It was believed that each of the 40 packets contained one kilogram and were worth around $20 million.
The authorities also found a black bear in Georgia’s Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, where the 40 packets of cocaines were scattered. The bear had consumed the cocaine and overdosed. The authorities believe that the bear consumed $7 million worth of cocaine.
The officials found the body of the bear four weeks after its death. There is no evidence that the bear went on a murderous rampage and terrorized the locals.
The cocaine that investigators were searching for was believed to have been dropped by Thronton, who was carrying 77 pounds of cocaine when he was killed.
