Coach Yolett Mcphee-Mccuin Husband Kelly McCuin

Yolett Mcphee-Mccuin married husband Kelly McCuin, on June 8, 2007. McCuin works as an assistant director at Ole Miss admissions.

Coach Yo is recently making headlines for the phenomenal performance of the Ole Miss Rebels women’s basketball team.

The Rebels triumphed over the no. 1 seeded Stanford Cardinals and Haley Jones by a score of 54–49 on Sunday night. The fact that they beat the Cardinals in their arena is even more impressive.

Following the thrilling win, they secured their ticket to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time since 2007, after 16 years.

Yolett was full of emotions after the historic victory as she reminisced back to the day of her appointment as the head coach of the team. After the match, she said, “This is for the people with a dollar and a dream.”

She came to Ole Miss five years ago from Jacksonville University in Florida during the difficult period for the Rebels. Quite interestingly, she wasn’t even the first choice back then, but definitely, the right choice as it proved!!!

Yolett Mcphee-Mccuin Married Life

Coach Yo and husband Kelly celebrated their 15th marriage anniversary on June 8, 2022. Yolett took to Instagram to share the delightful moment with a touching caption.

She was grateful to Kelly for being a significant part of her journey over all these years and sticking with her through all the ups and downs with love, care, and support.

The Rebels coach is pretty active on social media platforms, Twitter and Instagram, where she frequently shares personal and basketball-related content, photos, and posts.

She never misses an opportunity to wish Mr. McCuin well on special occasions such as his birthday, anniversary, or remarkable accomplishments.

Mcphee’s first meeting with her hubby dates back to 2007, during her graduation year at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB). Kelly was also studying management at UAPB around that time.

Both of them fell instantly in love and started to date. Their love story further blossomed as they understood more about each other.

After dating for some time, it didn’t take them long to bind their budding relationship into marriage. They walked down the aisle in 2007 and exchanged vows to remain together for the rest of their lives.

Fast forward to 2023, they have celebrated several happy moments together, visited several beautiful destinations, remained busy with their work, and gone through many ups and downs in life. However, most significantly, they are still together with the same love and compassion.

Kelly McCuin is an Assistant Director

Kelly also works at the University Of Mississippi, just like Yolett but in a different capacity. He is an assistant director of admissions.

McCuin is originally from Fort Worth, Texas but lives in Oxford, Mississippi. His birthday falls on March 9, and his beloved spouse and other close acquaintances shower him with good wishes and blessings on this day.

He has a bachelor’s degree in finance and business administration. Moreover, he completed his MBA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Arkansas in 2007.

McCuin is an avid sports lover and follows all the major sports played in the US. According to his Instagram account @kellymc1906, he supports the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL, the Texas Rangers in MLB, and the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA.

Apart from that, he also finds time to attend most of the Rebels’ matches from the arena itself. Another notable thing from his social media posts is that he is a cynophilist who is fond of dogs and likes to spend quality time with them.

Yolett Mcphee-Mccuin Children

Yolett has two kids, daughters named Yasmine McCuin and Yuri McCuin. Yasmine is the eldest, whereas Yuri is the younger one.

Ole Miss Head Coach does not shy away from providing insight into her children’s lives as they continue to grow. She is a proud mom who looks forward to giving happiness to her little kids.

Yo gracefully shares their birthdays, school days, holiday photos, special occasions, and other adorable moments on her timeline.

Yasmine McCuin

McPhee became a mother for the first time on September 6, 2012, when she gave birth to Yasmine. The 10-year-old girl is nicknamed Yazzy.

Yolett gladly recalls that as one of the best days of her life, with the arrival of her little girl into the world. The Bahamas-born lady believes motherhood has given her a new direction in life.

She recently wished her little girl a happy birthday on Instagram with the caption, “Yasmine changed my life personally and showed me that there’s more to what I thought was in my world at the time. Praying God’s protection over her as she continues to blossom.”

Yasmine is currently studying at Central Elementary School in Oxford, Mississippi. She was announced as the Shining Star of the Month by CES in October for her academic achievements in the school.

Yazzy and her grandparents were present at the arena last Sunday to witness the mom-led Rebels’ epic victory over Stanford. She exclaimed, “That’s my mom!” when Coach Yo came onto the court.

Yuri McCuin

Yolett’s younger kid Yuri was born on May 30, 2017, at the Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville. Dad Kelly shared photos of a newborn baby girl and a happy McPhee on Instagram.

Yuri caught media attention last Sunday as she put the Rebels’ nameplate on the board, indicating their progress to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.

The youngest McCuin celebrated her fifth birthday in Bahamian style last year, thanks to her grandparents in Freeport, Bahamas. The little girl looked ecstatic as she cut the cake and savored the glorious moment.

She completed a 3-week swimming class at just three, as Yolett shared the video via Instagram, stating how proud she is of her second-born child.

Yuri is also currently studying at Central Elementary School. She was pictured attending the school for the first time on August 9, 2021.

Coach Yo Family Life

Yolett Mcphee-Mccuin parents are Gladstone McPhee and Daisy McPhee. Her mom and dad tied the knot on December 20, 1980.

She was born to them a couple of years later, on April 30, 1982, in Freeport, Bahamas.

Yolett grew up in a formalized household. She spent her childhood in the Bahamas with early morning training, playing with friends, and hanging out at the beach.

McPhee earned her bachelor’s degree in business management and administration from the University of Rhode Island in 2004. Furthermore, she completed her master’s in physical education with a perfect 4.00 GPA from the University of Arkansas in 2007.

Mrs. McCuin played as a point guard for Miami Dade College and Rhode Island from 2000 to 2004 before embarking on a professional coaching career.

She started as an assistant coach at Frank Phillips College and later went on to various colleges in the same role. Yo debuted as the full-time head coach of the Jacksonville Dolphins women’s basketball team in 2013 before joining Ole Miss.

Coach Yo earns a base salary of $875,000 and other performance-based incentives in the 2023-24 season. She has a contract extension till 2026 for the Rebels women’s basketball team.

Gladstone McPhee was a Coach

Coach Yo’s dad Gladstone “Moon” McPhee was born on March 13, 1946. He grew up in the Bahamas with his twin brother, Sidney McPhee.

Yolett recently wished Moon a 77th happy birthday for being a wonderful dad and developing a passion for basketball in her from a very early age. She highly accredits her father for all the learnings and achievements she has achieved to date.

Gladstone was a basketball head coach at Bahama Catholic High School back in the days. He founded the Catholic High School Basketball Invitational in Grand Bahama in 1976 to further increase the game’s scope.

Taking over the presidency of the Grand Bahama Basketball Association in 1978, he magnificently led Bahama to its first national basketball championship a year later, in 1979.

Furthermore, Moon also founded the HOYTES (Helping Our Youths Through Education and Sports), which emphasized getting more women to play basketball and providing a platform to showcase their talent.

Gladstone was honored by the Grand Bahama Sports Promotion Association (GBSPA) on December 7, 2019, for his invaluable contributions to developing and promoting sports on the island.

Daisy McPhee was a Principal

Yo’s mom Daisy originally hails from Freeport. She was a principal at Grand Bahama Catholic High School.

The Rebels coach was inspired by her mother growing up, who calls her a superwoman. Yolett now hopes that Yas and Yury look at her the same way she expressed her feelings on Instagram around a week ago.

Mrs. McPhee completed her study at the same high school. After working for a few years, she held the significant position of principal at GBC for an extended period and positively influenced many careers during her tenure.

Daisy is active on Facebook, where she delightfully shares cherishing moments with her family and little granddaughters.
