Claire from Steps was born on August 17, 1977, and is an English singer best known for her work with the pop group Steps.
Richards appeared in the second season of Popstar to Operastar before being eliminated in the semi-finals. She has a soprano vocal range. Richards entered Celebrity Big Brother on January 3, 2013, and finished fourth. She was a regular panelist on Loose Women from April to June 2014.
After Richards and fellow bandmate Ian “H” Watkins resigned during the final leg of their final tour, the two continued to perform as H & Claire. The pair found success with their debut single “DJ,” which peaked at No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart, and their next two singles, both of which charted in the top 10. While the duo was initially successful, their 2002 album Another You, Another Me did not chart well. In 2002, Richards co-hosted SMTV Live with Brian Dowling and Tess Daly.
She took a break from singing to plan her wedding to Steps dancer Mark Webb. H and Claire split up in 2003. Richards wanted to take a break from music and focus on other projects after leaving her music career; she was set to release her debut solo album, but due to becoming pregnant, Richards decided not to pursue music any further. Following the success of Steps, she announced on Twitter in 2013 that she was considering producing a solo album.
