This Chuckwagon racer’s string of bad luck just doesn’t seem to want to end. The horse on Cody Ridsdale’s team suffered an injury during the fourth heat of a Thursday night competition in the chuckwagon race.
Although Cody was hurt in the collision, the real victim had to be put to death.

The accident occurred on Thursday night during the Rangeland Derby Chuckwagon race at the Calgary Stampede.
A horse on Cody Ridsdale’s team was hurt during the fourth heat of the races, and medical assistance was sent immediately, the Stampede reported in a release.
The Stampede said, “Following veterinary assessment, the owner made the humane decision to euthanize the horse.”
In 2019, six horses experienced the same catastrophe three years ago, prompting animal rights organizations to express worry over horses who experienced heart attacks, shattered backs, and damaged legs.
Even though the Stampede took new precautions, lowering the number of wagons in each heat for this year’s chuckwagon races from four to three horses to make the event safer, the tragedy happened again.
The campaign director for VHS, Emily Pickett, is demanding that the event be completely removed from Stampede after the viral video was released.

On a Saturday at 1 a.m. in Calgary, an accident happened on the sidewalk in front of a nightclub. Ridsdale, along with other males, was strolling along a sidewalk outside a nightclub when the car with the impaired driver struck them. When the drunk driver hit them, they suffered severe injuries, but they are now stable.
Following the collision, the chuckwagon rider and the other injured people were taken to Foothills hospital.
The reported speed of the car was 70 kilometers per hour. In T5-7, Ridsdale’s spinous processes broke, and the ribs went with them. He is lucky to be alive.
The Calgary Police Service’s Staff-Sgt. John Guigun reported that the driver suspect was located shortly after, detained, and charged.
