Chuck was born in Midwood, Brooklyn, to Selma and Abraham Schumer. He introduced The Religious Freedom Restoration Act on March 11, 1993. Schumer was chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee from 2005-2009. He also served as a Vice-Chairman of the Democratic Caucus in the Senate.
