In the middle of the 1990s, Christopher Masterson displayed his talent in the action-adventure movie “Cutthroat Island,” costarring Frank Langella, Geena Davis, and Matthew Modine. In addition, he played a little part in “Sunchaser,” the final movie directed by Michael Cimino and starring Woody Harrelson, Jon Seda, and Anne Bancroft.
In the romantic comedy “My Best Friend’s Wedding” in 1997, Masterson played the character’s younger brother played by Dermot Mulroney. He also made an appearance in the horror anthology movie “Campfire Tales.” He played supporting parts in the dramas “Girl” and “American History X” which were released in 1998 as the decade came to a close.
Masterson began the 2000s with a starring part in the direct-to-video fantasy action-adventure movie “Dragonheart: A New Beginning,” which was a follow-up to the 1996 movie “Dragonheart.”
He played Geoffrey, an orphan living in a monastery with aspirations of becoming a knight, in this movie. The next year, Masterson landed a key part in the supernatural comedy sequel “Scary Movie 2,” sharing the screen with Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Tim Curry, Shawn and Marlon Wayans, and Chris Elliott.
He played Zach in the independent disaster movie “Waterborne” in 2005. The next year, Masterson appeared in “Intellectual Property” with Lyndsy Fonseca and Bryan Cranston, who was also his “Malcolm in the Middle” co-star.
Along with “The Art of Travel,” “Made for Each Other,” “Impulse,” “Chapman,” “Bad Roomies,” and the Netflix thriller “Beneath the Leaves,” which stars Doug Jones, Mira, and Paul Sorvino, among others, are among his later film credits.
