Audigier started off as a young salesman. He used to work at a local boutique in Avignon, his hometown, in the South of France. He was noticed by the executives at MacKeen Jeans after he launched a marketing plan with vintage Americana and the Wild West. He was only fifteen when he got hired by the company as a denim designer. Audigier was given the nickname “King of Jeans” after he provided freelance work to Diesel, Elio Fiorruci, Bisou Bisou and Levis.

He made a mark at the Los Angeles fashion week with partner Von Dutch. He made the wild trucker hat a fashion statement after he had put them on Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. In 2004, Audiger established Ed Hardy, and used it to make apparel out of tattoo-art with the tattoo artist Don Ed Hardy. Initially they started off with T-Shirts, Hoodies and Caps, but soon took to other categories such as denims, knits, fragrances, bags and shoes.
