Chris Omulele Swimming Career
When in Form Six he was motivated by the desire to impress a female fellow student (Kabarak is a mixed school) and he entered the deep end of the school swimming pool. “I was saved by a lifeguard,” the MP reminisces of the 1987 incident. “I would have drowned. But that event provided me with a rude lesson to learn swimming to avoid similar situations.” He was a quick learner. A year later, at Form Two, he had toted up enough lessons to earn a call-up by the school team.
At Form Three, he won the national swimming championship in the backstroke category. He also plays football for Bunge FC, besides being the captain of the National Assembly tug-of-war team, the reigning champions among East African parliaments. After university, he worked as state counsel seconded to the Kenya Bureau of Standards
