Chris Dobey Is Called Hollywood And His Nickname Has A Meaning

Chris Dobey is called Hollywood because he used to wear shorts and a baseball hat. Chris Dobey nickname started as a joke in 2010.

Similarly, the tale behind his moniker began during his early career while playing at a local club named The Ridge Farm. He was 21 years old and had never played the game before, but it turned out to be one of those natural things.

Dobey had his debut TV appearance at the 2015 UK Open when he lost in the first round against Nathan Aspinall. He gradually improved and reached his fourth PDC final at the 2019 Danish Darts Open, where he lost to Dave Chisnall 8-3.

Then after, Dobey was picked for the Premier League night in Newcastle after the semi-finals in both the 2019 World Grand Prix and the 2019 Players Championship Finals. He earned his first PDC ranking title in 2021 at the 18th Players Championship tournament in Coventry.

Reason Why Chris Dobey Nickname Is Hollywood

Chris Dobey nickname Hollywood started when he played in a local club. Chris played darts wearing shorts and a baseball cap before turning pro.

And that’s the main reason behind his moniker “Hollywood,” since when he came up to the game wearing whatever he felt comfortable in, many in the audience screamed whether he imagined himself to be a film star, judging him by his attire.

In an interview, he openly reveals the roots of his moniker, which he claims started as a joke. After that, the term stuck with him, and people referred to him simply as “Hollywood” everywhere he went, as per The Sun.

Chris Dobey Walkout Song

In addition, Dobey’s walk on the song has received one out of three stars in the Mood barometer for the top 64 of the PDC global rankings, according to mydartpfeil.

Before that, in 2019, Dobey had remarked that he felt like Alan Shearer when he walked out to Newcastle United’s hymn Local Hero at the Utilita Arena.

In February 2019, the PDC Darts tweeted a video of Chris taking the stage to the song “Local Hero” by the Newcastle United Anthem.

Chris Dobey Career

Dobey started his career as a darts player in 2010.

Darts has a long run in his family, and he competed at the county level, winning local events and everything in Northumberland.

He subsequently earned his PDC Tour card on his first try in 2015, launching his professional darts career. Dobey has advanced four times in the past five years to the round of 16 in the World Darts Championship.

According to the BBC, Dobey stated in the ongoing World Championship that his 4-1 triumph over Gary Anderson at the World Darts Championship was fueled by his opponent’s unpleasant comments.

Anderson, a two-time world champion from Scotland, grabbed the first set in the third-round encounter at Alexandra Palace, but Englishman Dobey won the next four.
