Chloe X Halle: Everything You Need To Know About Chloe & Halle Bailey

American channel Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing in 2012 and were diligently forcing a name for themselves on YouTube as teenagers. They also have fans in Sasha, Malia and Michelle Obama. The duo played twice for the former first lady; Inaugurating her speech at the SXSW music festival and then Easter egg roll at the White House, she was featured in her charity single for Girls’ Education.

In 2018, the American contemporary R&B duo were nominated for a Grammy.

Chloe X Halle – General Information

Chloe is the eldest of the duo. She was born on July 1, 1998, followed by Halle on March 27, 2000 in Atlanta, Georgia. Although neither parent was musically inclined, Doug, a former stockbroker, and Courtney Bailey, a recruiting agent, discovered what voices they were blessed with at an early age. They also have a younger brother, Branson.

Chloe’s natural vibrato and perfect tone were already at home when she was 3 years old and Halle followed in her sister’s footsteps as soon as she could say a few words. Eventually, she developed her own ear for jazz listening to legends like Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan.

Like most parents, the Baileys hoped their children would have a normal childhood, but their surroundings had a different idea. Growing up in Atlanta, which is kind of a kiddie food market, the girls couldn’t avoid showbiz. Courtney summoned them to auditions to help them build self-esteem, comfort themselves around strangers, prepare for public speaking, as well as read scripts and rehearse, not excluding the opportunity to play a role. But what she never saw was that her daughters would become superstars and internet sensations.

However, one thing they instilled in their daughters is that they can do amazing things and learn to do whatever they want. They also taught them about independence and the power of creativity. For example, Doug taught Chloe X Halle the basics of songwriting and also encouraged them to take the initiative in business meetings and do their own deals rather than relying on his contributions.

When 3-year-old Chloe beat out 500 other little girls to earn a spot in the 2003 musical film Fighting Temptation as the little girl version of Beyoncé’s character, the Baileys didn’t really see fame coming. It was the family’s first time meeting Queen Bey and they still have a photo of her, little Chloe, in her arms at the party. A decade later, Chloe X Halle signed with her and she became their fairy godmother/mentor as well.

Their voices are as different as their personalities

Chloe and Halle are like two sides of a coin. At first glance, they’d look like twins, with gorgeous dreadlocked hair. Halle is a bit more reserved and quiet while Chloe is a very energetic one but they mirror each other and are best friends.

They sing so differently: Chloé ferociously strident, Halle with a languorous dream. While Chloe has the most classic R&B voice with a powerful vibrato, her sister’s voice is quivering with jazz inflections.
