Charleston SC Kate Waring Murder Update And Where Is Ethan Mack Now

Ethan Mack enters a plea to escape a probable life sentence only weeks before his retrial regarding the update of the murder of Kate Waring.

Mack made an Alford Plea to voluntary manslaughter, which indicates he doesn’t acknowledge guilt but believes a jury would find him guilty.

Mack received a 25-year term for Waring’s drowning death at his James Island condominium in 2009.

Solicitor Scarlett Wilson accepted the plea and said her primary witness Heather Kamp, who suffers from bipolar disorder and lied to police about the case, was unreliable.

Kate’s father, Tom Waring, addressed at the hearing, stating that their daughter’s death crushes his family and that the only comfort they have is that she is at peace.

Waring’s father expressed his gratitude to Mack for taking responsibility.

Charleston SC Kate Waring Murder Update

Heather Kamp met a tall, attractive redhead named Kate Waring on a train bound for Charleston Sc. Kamp was instantly befriended by Waring.

Waring introduced Kamp to her dear friend Ethan Mack when they landed in Charleston. Kamp and Mack had a romantic relationship.

Soon after, Kamp duped Mack into believing she was expecting a child and persuaded him to turn on his rich buddy Waring for monetary gain.

According to Kamp’s testimony, she and Mack dared Waring to climb inside a bag at Mack’s residence.

Mack used a stun gun to subdue Waring, then smashed her over the head with a wine bottle and dragged her corpse into a bathtub full of water. Her corpse was later thrown in the woods.

Mack tried to cash a fake $4,500 check from Waring’s bank account days after Kate vanished, but there wasn’t enough money in the account.

Kamp claimed mental illness while pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter. She was given a 45-year sentence.

On pleading guilty Mack was sentenced to 25 years in prison after entering an Alford Plea to voluntary manslaughter.

Where Is Ethan Mack Now?

Talking about Ethan Mack, he will be required to serve at least 85% of his 25-year sentence. Last week, Kamp pleaded guilty to murder while mentally ill, but he has yet to be punished.

During Mack’s murder trial for Waring’s death last October, a jury could not reach a unanimous conviction, so the judge declared a mistrial.

Last July, jurors found Mack guilty of obstruction of justice and forgery charges, and he was sentenced to ten years in jail for obstruction and five years for forgery.

Heather Kamp, Mack’s co-defendant, pled guilty to a murder charge in connection with the killing of Waring earlier this month, but she was mentally ill.

In August, Kamp, 31, agreed to plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter and other counts related to Waring’s murder, but the arrangement fell through after authorities said she lied.

During Mack’s trial, Kamp testified about how she met Waring and how she was slain. On June 12, 2009, Waring, 28, went to a West Ashley gym, a CVS drugstore, and a Japanese steakhouse before disappearing.

Visiting approximately 8 p.m., a surveillance camera caught her at the George Street drugstore.

They then used a stun gun on her, struck her over the head with a wine bottle, and threw her lifeless body into the bathtub to drown her, according to Kamp.
