How do you know if a triangle is congruent?
If two angles and the included side of one triangle are equal to the corresponding angles and side of another triangle, the triangles are congruent.
What are the 4 conditions of congruence?
Conditions for Congruence of Triangles:
- SSS (Side-Side-Side)
- SAS (Side-Angle-Side)
- ASA (Angle-Side-Angle)
- AAS (Angle-Angle-Side)
- RHS (Right angle-Hypotenuse-Side)
What is congruent condition?
Two triangles are congruent if their corresponding sides are equal in length, and their corresponding angles are equal in measure.
What are the reasons for congruent triangles?
If three sides of one triangle are congruent to three sides of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
| Statements | Reasons |
|---|---|
| 2. Angle 1 is congruent to angle 2 | 2. If 2 lines are perpendicular, they form congruent adjacent angles |
| 3. Segment BA bisects angle YBZ | 3. Given |
What are the two conditions of congruent triangles?
Two triangles are congruent if they meet one of the following criteria. : All three pairs of corresponding sides are equal. : Two pairs of corresponding sides and the corresponding angles between them are equal. : Two pairs of corresponding angles and the corresponding sides between them are equal.
Where do we use congruent triangles in real life?
Congruent Triangles are an important part of our everyday world, especially for reinforcing many structures. Two triangles are congruent if they are completely identical. This means that the matching sides must be the same length and the matching angles must be the same size.
Which two triangles must be congruent?
If two triangles have the same size and shape they are called congruent triangles. If we flip, turn or rotate one of two congruent triangles they are still congruent. If the sides of two triangles are the same then the triangles must have the same angles and therefore must be congruent.
How do you prove triangles?
How do you prove that two right triangles are congruent?
Explanation: Right triangles are congruent if both the hypotenuse and one leg are the same length. These triangles are congruent by HL, or hypotenuse-leg.
How do you prove vertical triangles are congruent?
When two lines intersect to make an X, angles on opposite sides of the X are called vertical angles. These angles are equal, and here’s the official theorem that tells you so. Vertical angles are congruent: If two angles are vertical angles, then they’re congruent (see the above figure).
What additional information is needed to prove the triangles are congruent?
You need at least one pair of congruent corresponding sides to prove two triangles are congruent. If two angles and a non-included side of one triangle are congruent to two angles and the corresponding non-included side of a second triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.
Can you prove triangles congruent by AAA?
Four shortcuts allow students to know two triangles must be congruent: SSS, SAS, ASA, and AAS. Knowing only angle-angle-angle (AAA) does not work because it can produce similar but not congruent triangles.
What else must you know to prove the triangles congruent by ASA?
As we have to prove the triangle congruency by SAS or Side-Angle-Side congruency, so two consecutive side along with their common angle must be congruent with the other triangle. So, if AD becomes congruent to BC, then both the triangle will be congruent.
What does congruent mean?
Congruent means same shape and same size. So congruent has to do with comparing two figures, and equivalent means two expressions are equal.

Does equal mean congruent?
Definition: congruent means that objects have the same shape. It does not mean that they are ‘equal‘, exactly. Equal should be used to relate the lengths or measurements of two sides, angles or parts of shapes.
