Chaim Topol Wife: Who is Galia Topol?

Chaim Topol was born in Tel Aviv, then-Mandate Palestine, (now Israel).

Jacob Topol, his father, was born in Russia and moved to Mandatory Palestine in the early 1930s to work as a plasterer.

He also participated in the Haganah militant group.  Imrela “Rel” Topol, formerly Goldman, was his mother.

Before emigrating, Topol’s parents were active in Warsaw’s Betar Zionist youth movement.

His father has roots in the Hasidic community; his father was an Aleksander Hasid and his mother was from a Gerrer Hasidic household.

Growing up, Chaim and his two younger sisters lived in the Florentin working-class district of South Tel Aviv.

Although he aspired to work as a commercial artist when he was younger, his elementary school teacher, writer Yemima Avidar-Tchernovitz, recognized that he had a theatrical side and pushed him to perform in plays and read aloud to the class.
