Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to
apply for a Chadian Visa.

    • A Kenyan passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date and must have 2 blank pages for visa stamp.

    • Duly completed and signed visa application form.

    • If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.

    • Three passport-size photographs (4.5 x 3.5 cm) taken in white background.

    • Travel document must be complete.

    • Proof of financial capability.

    • Documentation showing applicant’s ties to home country.

    • A police report showing the traveler does not have a criminal record.

Facts about Chad

Tourism in Chad is not a major industry but the country still attracts a number of tourists each year. Visitors in Chad are usually excited by the hunting capabilities in the country. Zakouma National Park is also a great destination for tourists. The park is the oldest national park in the country and it houses lions, elephants and a host of other animals.
The country is named after the ‘Lake Chad’ which is the largest wetland in Chad and the second largest in Africa. French and Arabic are the most popular languages in the country. The country has over 200 ethnic groups. Crude oil became the country’s primary source of exporting income in 2003, usurping the cotton industry.
Homosexuality is seriously frowned at in Chad. People caught in this act will serve prison sentence ranging from 3 months to 2 years and incur a fine of between 50,000 and 500,000 CFA. Foreigners should ensure they are in possession of a valid means of identification at all times.

The southeast of Chad should be avoided by tourists because of the unrest there due to rebel activities and banditry.

Chad Transit Visa Eligibility &
Requirements

  • This visa is meant for foreigners who have the intention of making short stops in Chad.
  • Applicants of this visa may intend to board a connecting flight from an airport in Chad to their destination country.
  • The visa and other entry permits of the destination country are required.
  • Foreigners should ensure they have a flight ticket to their destination country.
  • Traveling from Kenya to Chad and from Chad back to Kenya cannot be regarded as transit.
  • The Transit Visa cannot be extended.
  • Minors should ensure they have the original copy of their birth certificate and a letter of consent signed by both their parents.
  • Foreigners should possess a certificate of vaccination against yellow fever.
  • Proof of payment of visa application fee is required.

Chad Tourist Visa Eligibility &
Requirements

  • Kenyans intending to travel to Chad for sightseeing, recreation, and relaxation purposes are eligible for this visa.
  • Foreigners who have been invited to the country by their friends and relatives are also eligible to this visa.
  • The processing time for the Chadian tourist visa is 7 days.
  • The Chadian tourist visa has a validity period of 90 days.
  • Chad does not have an embassy in Kenya so Kenyan Applicants are advised to make their application through the closest Chadian embassy to them (Ethiopia).

  • Applicants should submit a computer generated flight itinerary from the airline or a travel agency.

  • A letter of invitation from your host in the country explaining the applicant’s relationship with the host is required. The letter should indicate the length of stay, place of stay, and the host’s name and contact information.
  • Proof of travel insurance that covers duration of stay should be provided.

  • An applicant should provide a bank statement which clearly shows his full name as appeared on his passport and which must not be more than 90 days as a proof of sufficient funds.

  • Hotel and/or cruise reservations should be submitted by applicant and If he is staying in various hotels, applicant is required to provide copies of each reservation. 

  • This visa allows foreigners to attend festivals and events in the country.
  • An original letter of employment, certifying that the applicant is an employee of the company and in good standing is required. The letter must indicate the dates for which leave was approved and the intended date of return to the company.
  • A copy of the Kenyan stay permit is required.
  • If you are under the age of 18, the original copy of your birth certificate is required. A notarized consent signed by both the minor’s parent is also required.
  • A document which shows that you have the incentive of returning to your country at the expiry of your visa.
  • Receipt of payment of visa application form.
  • Foreigners on this visa are not permitted to engage in business activities or to work.
  • Kenyans should ensure they do not overstay the duration of this visa.
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required.

Chad Business Visa Eligibility &
Requirements

  • This visa is for business-minded travelers who are visiting the country to meet up with business partners for various business activities.
  • Business travelers can negotiate and sign business contracts with their partner companies in the country.
  • Kenyan businessmen and businesswomen can attend conferences, trade fairs, and business summits in Chad.
  • An official letter of invitation from the host company in Chad explaining the relationship to the applicant and the purpose of travel to Chad is required. The letter must indicate the length of stay, place of stay, and the company’s contact information.
  • A letter from the applicant’s employer indicating the applicant’s employment status is required. This letter should clearly state the purpose of the visit, as well as, the duration of the visit.
  • The business letter must also indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant and must provide detailed contact information in Chad.
  • If you are self-employed, a copy of your certificate of business employment and the income tax return is required.
  • Proof of previous business dealings should be presented, if any.
  • Receipt of paid visa application form is required.
  • Proof that you have the incentive of returning to your country at the expiry of your visa.
  • Foreigners should ensure they have been vaccinated against yellow fever before they enter the country.
