Chachi Gonzales was born Olivia Irene Gonzales, the last of five children to Guadalupe and David L. Gonzales, Mexican immigrant parents, on January 23, 1996 in Houston, Texas. His siblings are sisters Dominique and Leslie and brothers Chris and David.
From an early age, 6 years old to be exact, Gonzales started training as a ballet dancer. When she was 9, she turned to hip hop dancing after seeing a hip hop dance group perform live. It was in this spirit that she enrolled at Lanier Middle School where hip hop was one of the dance styles taught.
The story goes that Chachi Gonzales first found it difficult to start but soon after began to improve. She showed remarkable improvement in her dancing and her teachers had subsequently turned her into the leader of the group she was a part of. In 2010, having already made quite an impression on everyone who came to see her perform, Chachi was recruited to join the newly formed group I.aM.mE. hip hop dance team, becoming its youngest member. The crew won America’s Best Dance Team: The Season of Superstars competition, which brought national fame to young dancers.
In the following years, the profile of Chachi Gonzales continued to rise in the dance and choreography industry. At the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, she was one of the backup dancers for Tribute to Britney Spears. Chachi Gonzales was previously in a highly publicized relationship with Josh Leyva. The pair started dating in 2014 after meeting at a YouTube channel launch party in New York in April of that year.
