Celine McArthur WCAX | Vermont

Before operating her own investigative journalism blog, Celine was the associate vice president of strategic communications for Florida State College at Jacksonville.

In 2009, she joined the public relations field and prior to that, Céline was a news anchor and chief investigative reporter for Cox Media Group’s Action News duopoly WFOX-TV FOX 30 & WJAX-TV CBS 47 in Jacksonville. During her tenure at Action News in 2000, Céline produced investigative reports on local consumer, safety and health issues and the weekly FOX 30 Sex Offender Alert.

While at Action News, she investigated a mystery skin disease that won her the Florida Associated Press Award for “Best Continuing Coverage”. In 2001, she received the “Outstanding Contribution to Criminal Justice” award, given to her by then-Governor Jeb Bush.

In 2004, Céline left Action News to become a medical news reporter at KVUE-TV in Austin, Texas. She returned to her position in Jacksonville a year later. In addition to all that, Celine McArthur has also worked as a news anchor at WBRE-TV/WYOU-TV in Scranton, PA; and WICZ-TV in Binghamton, NY. Celine McArthur Necklace

According to one of her tweets, McArthur was boarding the plane when a WCAX-TV viewer asked her if  she was wearing “THE necklace.” The WCAX-TV investigative reporter added that she loves that her necklace makes people happy.

It is more than jewelry to the investigative reporter and it is a sun-shaped necklace. The story behind it is an intriguing one as it all started when the TV station she was working in Concord known as NH1 was shut down without notice after being sold to the Federal Communications Commission.

Sadly enough, this was the time during which McArthur and her photographer, Freddy, were planning to shoot and tell the story of Beyond the Border: The Opioid Pipeline. Armed with her phone, their three months severance pay, two personal DSLR cameras, and eight GoPros, the duo opted to complete their project. Surprisingly, the project won them an Emmy Award in 2018.

To celebrate their achievement, McArthur and Freddy went hiking on the highest peak in the northeastern U.S. known as Mount Washington. Afterward, they went to the Omni Mount Washington Resort to quench their thirst and McArthur stopped at a jewelry store in the resort referred to as Sterling Works.

It felt like fate brought her the round necklace with extending spokes like a drawing of the sun as her kindergarten teacher used to call young Celine, Mary Sunshine. Besides, her mother would always remind her of the teacher by calling her Mary Sunshine while hanging at home. Thus, the reporter wouldn’t afford to leave the necklace at the store.
