Catherine Lisa Bell, who was born in London, England, on August 14, 1968, comes from a variety of backgrounds, which have influenced her upbringing and hobbies. Her mother, Mina Ezzati, is of Iranian heritage and studied nursing in London. Her father, Peter Bell, is from Scotland and worked as an architect in Iran.
Unfortunately, Catherine’s parents split up when she was only two years old, thus her mother and maternal grandparents raised her for the most part.
The family later moved to California’s San Fernando Valley, where Catherine was exposed to a diverse range of cultures. Considering that her grandparents were Muslims, Persian was used at home. But she also encountered Catholicism, and she even went to a Baptist summer camp.
As a child, Catherine enjoyed her environment in California, referring to herself as a “Valley Girl” with a tomboyish temperament who loved skating, football, and pushing the envelope.
Catherine first attended UCLA for her higher education, thinking of a career in either research or medicine. But she was given the chance to work as a model in Japan, where advertising appreciated her “American Beauty” greatly. Catherine made the decision to leave college in her second year because she was eager to go on a new journey.
