Cat Stevens Father And Son
This is about a Russian family where the son wants to join the revolution but his father wants him to stay home and work on the farm. Stevens made up the story, but his relationship with his own father was an influence on the song. When he appeared on The Chris Isaak Hour in 2009, Stevens said: “He was running a restaurant and I was a Pop Star, so I wasn’t following the path that he laid out. But we certainly didn’t have any antagonism between us. I loved him and he loved me.”

The song contains a lyrical trick of verse and chorus sung by different people with different perspectives on the situation. This was a hit in Europe for the Irish group Boyzone in 1995. Stevens, now known as Yusuf Islam, was happy that the wholesome group had success with it.
The producers of the 2001 movie Moulin Rouge wanted to use this in the film and had some of the actors record it, but Stevens would not let them because the racy content of the movie clashed with his Muslim beliefs. Much of the plot was based on the song, and the script had to be rewritten when Stevens refused permission. The song “Nature Boy,” sung by David Bowie, was used instead.

Best Of Cat Stevens
The Very Best of Cat Stevens is the title of a compilation album by Cat Stevens. There are multiple albums released with this title. The first was released by Polygram on its recently acquired Island Records label in January 1990. Its cover picture appears to be a reference to the Teaser and the Firecat album cover; both feature a boy in a top hat, “Teaser”, accompanied by an orange cat, “Firecat”, beside a fence with a full moon overhead.
A compilation album with the same title was released in 2000 on the A&M and UTV Records labels. In many respects, it is a substantially different album. The track list is substantially different. The cover art for these releases features a simple portrait of the artist. This album was released in the UK and Europe in 2003, using the same cover art but with a different track list.

Cat Stevens Wild World
This is a song written and recorded by English singer-songwriter Cat Stevens. It first appeared on his fourth album, Tea for the Tillerman, recorded and released in 1970.
Stevens was in a relationship with actress Patti D’Arbanville and the two were a pair throughout a period two years and during that time, he wrote several songs about her including “Wild World”. The song was released as a single in late 1970, it peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song is in the form of the singer’s words to his departing lover, inspired by the end of their romance. Stevens later recalled to Mojo: “It was one of those chord sequences that’s very common in Spanish music. I turned it around and came up with that theme—which is a recurring theme in my work—which is to do with leaving, the sadness of leaving, and the anticipation of what lies beyond.
