As he continues to battle a life-threatening chronic fatigue illness that has utterly wiped him out in recent years, the two-time world champion claims he “couldn’t get up from the couch in principle for five months.”
At the Algarve GP in Portugal this weekend, the Australian was spotted returning to work for MotoGP for the first time after three years, and he gave a special news conference to discuss his three-year absence from the sport.
“I’m virtually never more than 60% of my everyday self,” the 36-year-old stated.
“I’ve had to learn to walk anywhere I don’t want to go.” I used to jog practically everything, but now I have to walk everywhere.”
