Caroline Heldman Politics
Heldman has appeared over 100 times on Fox News and had been one of their most popular guest commentators for quite some time.
In 2017, Caroline came forward with multiple sexual harassment claims against three men who worked with FOX News: Bill O’Reilly, Woody Fraser, and Eric Bolling.
She filed a sexual harassment complaint against O’Reilly in April of 2017 due to inappropriate comments he’d made toward her.
In May, she released details of interactions with Fraser in which he consistently made unwanted advances on her & used coded language to try and force a sexual relationship onto her, insinuating that her career would not advance if she did not do so.
In August, she came forward once more and wrote about Bolling’s numerous sexist comments and unwanted advances toward her.
The backlash from her stories was severe, with many Fox News fans defending the abusers. Heldman continues to be a commentator on other media outlets.
Caroline Heldman and Eric Bolling
According to the Daily Mail, Caroline Heldman, Associate Professor of Politics at Occidental College in Los Angeles, claims that she had received unwanted advances made by Bolling. She spoke out against Bolling just hours after Fox confirmed that he’d been suspended pending this investigation.
Heldman Took to Facebook to Make These Claims
“Bolling would also contact me via phone and text after shows, sometimes to apologize for his behavior (and then do it again), and sometimes just to talk.
He said he wanted to fly me out to New York for in-studio hits and to have ‘fun.’ He asked me to have meals with him on several occasions, but I found excuses not to go,” Heldman wrote (in part) on August 5.
“Once, he took me up to his office in New York, showed me his baseball jerseys, and in the brief time I was there, let me know that his office was his favorite place to have sex. I know other women have had similar experiences with Bolling, which means that lots of folks at Fox knew about his behavior well before 2017,” Heldman continued.
Unsurprisingly, she faced a great deal of backlash following her post. In response — or seemingly so — Heldman updated the cover photo on her Facebook page. She used an email that she received that called her a “liar,” though it was misspelled as “lier.”
Bolling’s Attorney Has Responded to Heldman’s Claims, Denying His Client Had Any Interaction With Her
“Mr. Bolling never had any interactions with Ms. Heldman of a sexual nature, and any such accusation would be false and defamatory,” attorney Michael Bowe told the Daily Mail on Monday.
The investigation, which is being led by law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, will look into all claims made against Bolling, inclusive of the claims made by Heldman.
“We are investigating this matter and all claims will be taken into account,” Fox News told Heavy.com. Bolling Called Heldman ‘Dr. McHottie’ on Air
Heldman Previously Claimed That She Was Sexually Harassed by Bill O’Reilly
“Bolling was one of three men from whom I experienced sexual harassment and gender discrimination (the others being Bill O’Reilly and Woody Fraser).
O’Reilly was creepy in person; told me ‘when I was in college, professors didn’t look like you’; then called me ‘hysterical’ during a show, edited the interview, and retaliated by never having me on his show again,” Heldman wrote in her recent Facebook post.
Back in April, Heldman said she filed a complaint with Fox against O’Reilly. Hours later, O’Reilly was fired by the network, though it’s unclear if Heldman’s complaint actually had anything to do with that.
Heldman Supported Lili Bernard During the Bill Cosby Trial
Back in June, Heldman appeared in court alongside her friend, Lili Bernard. The former Cosby Show guest star was just one of a handful of women that claimed she was sexually assaulted by Bill Cosby.
“He praised me. … He lifted me up. I believed him. After all, he was Bill Cosby. After he had won my complete trust and adoration, he drugged me and raped me,” Bernard said during a news conference in 2015.
“I am coming forward to show my 6-year-old daughter to stand in the truth, and to say that I have survived Bill Cosby’s drugging and raping me. I stand here to take back my power and to confront the fear that has paralyzed me for so many years,” she added.
Claiming to be on the receiving end of unwanted sexual advances herself, Heldman offered her support to Bernard during Cosby’s trial.
According to the Daily Mail, “Heldman is an advocate for rape victims and spearheads a campaign to do away with California’s statute of limitations in rape cases.”
