Carly Pearce traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 19, with the intention of pursuing a career in country music. Her early years in the city were regarded as a tumultuous “roller coaster” trip.
She secured a development deal with Sony Music Nashville in 2012, however, her producer was later fired by the company, resulting in the cancellation of her contract. This experience of having a bright chance and then losing it was difficult for Pearce.
In a 2017 interview, she stated that she had considered abandoning music at times, recalling emotional nights spent with prayers in her condo. Nonetheless, she stayed steadfast in her love of music and recognized the value of tenacity and toughness in the industry.
Pearce worked a variety of part-time jobs, including cleaning Airbnb houses, to make ends meet.
Pearce regularly networked with fellow musicians and industry leaders in the country music world while working part-time jobs. It was during this time that she met Pete Fisher, the Grand Ole Opry’s vice president and general manager.
Even before she had a recording contract, Fisher gave Pearce the opportunity to perform on the famous Opry stage in 2015. Pearce’s talents and interests were noticed by record producer Busbee as a result of her working association with Fisher. Busbee signed Pearce to a developing artist deal in 2015.
