Carly Pearce Teases Her Wedding Dress at 2019 ACM Awards (Exclusive)
Published: April 7, 2019
Carly Pearce is spilling the details on how wedding planning is progressing — including her dress!
The gorgeous blonde songstress hit the red carpet of the 2019 ACM Awards alongside fiance Michael Ray, and she told ET’s Nancy O’Dell about preparing the couple’s upcoming nuptials.
“I have it, and it’s awesome,” she gushed about her wedding gown. “All of my girlfriends think it was custom made for me, and it wasn’t, so it makes me feel like it’s a good one for me.”
When asked if the gown bears any resemblance to the smoldering red dress she chose for the awards show, which featured a high slit, a plunging neckline and a train, she answered, “No, it’s really different. But I feel like when you see it, you’ll go, ‘Of course that’s Carly.’”
The songstress also spoke with ET’s Sophie Schillaci and Cassie DiLaura, and she dished on the status of her wedding prep.
“It’s good! Honestly, I feel like I’ve got the big things [done]. I’ve got the caterer, I’ve got the first dance singer, I’ve got the venue, I’ve got the dress, so things are good,” Pearce said, before revealing that she’s tapped fellow country music star Jake Owen to perform a song for their first dance.
“He just released his new record, Greetings From… Jake, and it’s called ‘Made For You,’” Pearce shared, adding that she’s already had to warn some of her family members not to be starstruck. “I was like, ‘Mom, I know you love Jake Owen, but you can’t stare at him at the wedding.”
When Pearce’s future husband was asked by ET how he’s feeling about saying “I do,” Ray said, “I’ll marry her right now. I’ve been trying to get her to marry me in Vegas.”
“For me, it’s my first time, so I think, having that first-time feeling and also being able to share it with your fiancee, doesn’t get better than that,” Ray said of attending the ACM Awards. “We just feel very blessed and fortunate that we get to share these moments together. We were talking about this yesterday and was like ‘who get to do this?’ with their significant others. So it’s awesome, makes it so much better.”
The couple got engaged in at the end of last year during a laid-back vacation to Tulum, Mexico, following months of dating. Soon after, Ray posted a photo of the fateful moment, showing Pearce covering her face after Ray got down on one knee.
“Carly, you make it all make sense, every step of my life good and bad was leading me to you,” Ray captioned the moment. “You are the biggest blessing I have and will ever receive. You are my best friend, my partner in crime, my workout, grilled chicken, wine drinking classic country Opry loving, Nashville palace hanging, Publix grocery shopping, this is us watching, living room late night dancing, laugh until we cry soulmate.”
The 28-year-old songstress is up for new female artist of the year at the ceremony.

Russell Dickerson Calls ACM Awards Nom for Song of the Year a ‘Game of Patience and Perseverance’
Published: April 7, 2019
The rising country star is celebrating an ACM nomination for song of the year for his hit “Yours,” the title track of his debut studio album
This year is yours, Russell Dickerson!
It’s been five years since the rising country singer first penned the title track for his debut studio album Yours (2016), and each little bit of success has built on the last — culminating in a nomination for song of the year at the 2019 Academy of Country Music Awards, airing live from Las Vegas on Sunday.
“It’s literally insane,” Dickerson, 31, tells PEOPLE about what it means to be recognized outside of the new vocalist category for the first time. “The patience this song took even just to get recorded in the first place — it took four years to even get to No. 1 and then this nomination is coming five years after we wrote this song.”
“It’s a huge game of patience and perseverance,” he continues of the slow burn success of “Yours,” which eventually went platinum. “Once it hit No. 1, it was amazing — that was the goal and we accomplished what we wanted to accomplish, but once we found out it was nominated for song of the year it was just insane. That’s what you hope when you write a song. We thought that time was over and it wasn’t even eligible anymore, but, sure enough, here we are nominated for song of the year.”
Although this achievement gives the singer-songwriter a feeling of validation (“not in a cocky way at all!”), he is able to easily recall his first “I made it moment” of his career — because it “still happens every night!”
“The fact that we go from trying to get 20 people to show up to a show to now 1,000 to 1,500 plus — 2,000 sometimes — and to hear these fans sing these songs, that every night is just a crazy realization,” he says. “I used to have to teach the crowd ‘Blue Tacoma,’ so it’s just crazy to go from that to now when the track hits the crowd goes nuts.”
“That’s just been such a huge recognition every night for me,” he adds.
Having toured with superstars like Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett and his longtime pal Carly Pearce, Dickerson says his wife remains his biggest collaborator and inspiration in life.
“We’re always dreaming,” he says about working with Kailey, who inspires his songs, shoots his music videos and brings him back down to earth when he jokes he’s “getting too diva.”
“I love working with my wife because she understands me more than anyone else,” he previously told PEOPLE about working with Kailey for the “Blue Tacoma” music video, which she co-directed with her brother Toben Seymour. “She has impeccable vision and direction for everything we do.”
And speaking of direction and guidance, both Dickerson and Kailey have been doing just that for Pearce, who is in the midst of wedding planning with her fiancé Michael Ray.
“I just remember we were talking in the back of our bus one night just about the chaos of planning a wedding and how hard it can be,” he recalls. “[Kailey and I] just lend our humble advice. At the end of the day, you know one person was at your wedding and that was your spouse, so that’s just a little nugget of wisdom.”
Dickerson and Pearce, who wrapped their co-headlining Way Back Tour earlier this month, have a friendship that dates way back to the days they were young aspiring artists longing to get their careers off the ground.
“[Touring with Carly] was kind of this full circle moment,” he says. “We’ve been busting our butts for almost a decade of just going, going, going, trying to make these dreams happen and it’s just crazy how parallel our careers have been.”
“We both had our first No. 1s within two months of each other, which, if you think about it, for how long we’ve been chasing this dream and to have a number one that close was crazy,” he adds. “It just felt like a celebration like, ‘Hey, we both are finally here, so let’s just celebrate with a tour!’”

Carly Pearce Reveals New Album Has Multiple Collabs & The Ultimate Female Empowerment Track
Published: April 7, 2019
Carly Pearce has a BIG year ahead of her. “I’m about to start the Jason Aldean and Kane Brown Ride All Night tour, I’m working on my second album, and I’m getting married!” she gushed to HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY on the ACM Awards red carpet on April 7. Fans have anxiously been waiting for new music from Carly, and she confirmed that there will be some epic collaborations when CP2 is released later this year. Of course, one is with her fiance, Michael Ray, which he dished about in an interview with HollywoodLife last month, but there’s more where that came from!
“A couple of boys will make an appearance on my record,” Carly confirmed. “I am engaged to one of them. And there’s another one that I really really really love so much.” Aside from those duets, there’s also an girl-power anthem that females should definitely look forward to. “There’s one song on the album that I’m really excited about called “Woman Down,”” Carly said. “And it’s all about females.”
Carly looked absolutely amazing in her red dress on the ACMs red carpet, where she, of course, posed for photos with Michael before heading inside. The pair hit the stage together during the show to present the award for Duo of the Year, while Carly was nominated in the New Female Artist of the Year category herself.
The country singer’s new album doesn’t have a release date yet, but Michael teased on the red carpet that the two are aiming for an October wedding. The second half of this year is definitely going to be a BIG one for this gal!
