Her first husband, actor Gordon Souter, gave her the nickname Camille in honor of the main character in La Dame aux Camélias by Alexandre Dumas. The couple wed in 1953 and eventually divorced in 1955. Before Camille left for Italy with the artist Ralph Rumney, they had a daughter together. Souter relocated to Enniskerry, County Wicklow after being married to the sculptor Frank Morris in 1960, and then she made her home at Calary Bog. Morris passed away in 1970 from sepsis after having four children with the couple.
