Jarvis Landry is an American football wide receiver who is said to leave Cleveland Browns while he has not made it clear where he is going.
Jarvis Landry was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft after playing college football at Louisiana State University.
He was named to the Pro Bowl three times with the Dolphins and two more times with the Browns. He was the league’s leading receiver in 2017, with 112 receptions, and he has the most career receptions (564) of any player in NFL history during his first six seasons.
He was a three-sport athlete at Lutcher High School in Lutcher, Louisiana, where he participated in football, basketball, and track. He has 51 receptions for 716 yards and 11 touchdowns as a senior.
He had 241 receptions for 3,902 yards and 50 touchdowns in high school, as well as 875 yards and 14 scores on the ground. He set a record with eight receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown at the 2011 Under Armour All-America Game. According to Rivals.com, he was rated as the nation’s fourth-best wide receiver and a five-star prospect.
Where Is Jarvis Landry Going?
Jarvis Landry has not made an official announcement on where he is going. However, he has piqued the curiosity of the New England Patriots, who need a wide receiver this offseason.
He’s recently made headlines for either staying or quitting the Cleveland Browns. He might prefer to leave Browns out of his social media posts. However, the situation is still unclear.
As a result, the Browns have yet to make an official statement, and Langry has yet to make a decision.
Cleveland Browns Receiving Core and Possible Trades
Amari Cooper, a wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns, has been traded to the Dallas Cowboys. Cooper, while being only 27 years old, has been fairly effective throughout his seven years in the league (he turns 28 in June).
The Cooper move may have the largest influence on the Browns’ very prolific receiver, Jarvis Landry. Landry has already expressed his aspirations on social media this offseason. Going into the final season of Landry’s five-year contract, Cleveland has alternatives.
Landry’s $16 million will be difficult to retain around now that the Browns have taken on Cooper’s $20 million salary-cap charges. Landry’s salary cap figure might be reduced if Cleveland GM Andrew Berry approaches him about a reworked deal or extension, but that is doubtful.
Cooper’s deal is also good for the team because there is no money promised in the future. With no dead-cap hit, he can be cut after any of the next two seasons.
Instead, unless another team is ready to trade a low selection pick for Landry, anticipate the Browns to release him soon.
Is Jarvis Landry Going To the Patriots? Other Possible Destination
The Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs, and other NFL teams may be interested in veteran receiver Jarvis Landry. However, he hasn’t stated whether or not he will attend Patriots.
According to insiders, Landry and the Browns have attempted to reach an agreement on a restructured contract, but no agreement has been reached.
In 2022, the final year of his contract, he is owed a $14.3 million base salary and would be worth approximately $16.4 million to Cleveland’s salary cap. Landry’s dismissal would free up about $15 million in cap space for the Browns.
