Brian Porter Kemp, known as Brian Kemp, is an American politician and businessman associated with the Republican Party, serving as the 83rd governor of Georgia since January 2019.
Kemp previously was the 27th Secretary of State of Georgia from 2010 to 2018 and a Georgia State Senate member from 2003 until 2007.
Before entering politics, Kemp owned several agribusinesses, financial services, and real estate companies. Kemp was elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2002. In 2010, Brian was appointed Secretary of State of Georgia by Governor Sonny Perdue following Karen Handel’s resignation to run for the governorship.
