When he was discovered by the Gonzaga coaching staff, he got a chance to play for the Gonzaga Bulldogs men’s soccer program .Then, when he stepped in playing for Spokane Shadow of the Premier Development Soccer League. He was named the PDSL rookie of the year in 1998.
In 2001, Ching was drafted by the Los Angeles Galaxy as the team won the U.S. Open Cup against Nashville Metros. After his stint with the Galaxy, he played with the Seattle Sounders, San Jose Earthquakes, Houston Dynamo and Montreal Impact. He played for the U.S. National team from 2003 to 2010. He is the managing director for Houston Dash and also serves as assistant coach for Houston Dynamo.
