Brent Grimes Bio
The player, whose full name is Brent Omar Grimes, was born on July 19, 1983 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he attended Northeast High School. Although the player believes he could have played at one of the bigger schools, he wasn’t lucky enough to receive a scholarship offer from any of the D-1 schools.
He subsequently moved on to Shippensburg University, a Division II school, and made the most of it, setting a school record with 27 interceptions. This convinced Brent Grimes all the more as he had what it took to play at the highest level.
However, coming out of college and measuring five feet, nine and a half inches places Brent at a disadvantage among NFL teams. According to the player, he could do plays but they didn’t really believe in him because he came from a small school and also because they thought he was too small to act professionally.
In 2008, Brent Grimes was named the starting corner kick to begin the regular season of the year alongside Chris Houston. He made his career debut in the season opener against the Washington Redskins and was sidelined in weeks 13–15 after suffering a knee injury. At the end of the 2008 season, he had 34 combined tackles (30 solos), 6 pass defenses and one interception in 12 games and 6 starts.
Grimes played for the Falcons until 2012, after which he became an unrestricted free agent. During this time he made visits to the Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins and was eventually signed by the Dolphins on March 30, 2013 to a one-year contract.
During his first season with the Dolphins, BrentGrimes was selected to his third Pro Bowl and was ranked the second-best cornerback by Pro Football Focus. He was also listed in the 95th position among the NFL Top 100 Players of 2014. He made a total of 60 combined tackles (52 solos), 17 pass defenses, 4 interceptions and a touchdown in 16 games and 16 starts by the end of the 2013 season. After his outstanding performance, the team re-signed to a four-year contract. After three productive seasons with the Dolphins, Brent was suspended from duty in 2016 for refusing to restructure his contract.
In March 2016, he signed a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and on March 12, 2018, the team signed the cornerback to a fully guaranteed, one-year, $7 million contract.
His capital
Since 2006, the Atlanta Falcons have signed Brent, on a three-year, $1.08 million deal and living big. He remained with the team, signing $2.61 million and $10.60 million one-year contracts in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
The following year, he joined the Miami Dolphins, signing a one-year, $5.50 million contract guaranteed $2.75 million. In 2014, the cornerback landed a four-year, $32 million deal that included a $6 million signing bonus and $16 million guaranteed. He played for the Dolphins until 2016 when the team shut him down after refusing to restructure his contract.
That same year, the Tempa Bay Buccaneers came calling on a two-year, $13.50 million deal. After the deal expired in 2017, the team re-signed Brent Grimes to a fully guaranteed, one-year, $7 million deal on March 12, 2018. This means that the player will earn a base salary of $3.5 million in 2018. A $3.5 million roster bonus and a $1 million bonus at $8 million cap hit and $7 million dead cap value.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Corner has been in action for more than 12 seasons and has $60.69 million in career earnings. This ranks 107th among active NFL players entering 2018. However, it’s difficult to say what his net worth is. Although different figures have been given as to the player’s net worth, all we are sure of is that his account contains millions of dollars.
Brent Grimes’ wife
Brent Grime is married to one of the most popular and controversial wives of NFL stars, Tamiko Grimes. In one of her autobiographical blog posts, Tamiko, who goes by the nickname Miko, said she was born in St. Louis and moved to Southern California when she was five with her mother, an aspiring restaurateur.
Like her husband, Miko is also athletic. In high school, she played basketball and ran sports before attending California State University in Los Angeles, where she earned degrees in kinesiology and nutrition. After graduating from college, Miko played basketball abroad in four different countries and dreamed of becoming a journalist.
Following her relentless interest in journalism, she decided to follow her dream and moved to Atlanta, where she snagged a job co-hosting a radio show and commentating on college games. She met her very quiet husband, Brent Grime, when he was playing for the Atlanta Falcons, and Miko dumped him after dating for three weeks saying he was gay because he wouldn’t talk to her, try to kiss, or sleep with her. But Brent’s teammates, who arranged their meeting, assured her that he was just Brent (quiet and not the talking type) and nothing more. On a second thought, she got back together with Brent and they have never been apart since.
The power couple married in 2010 and Miko has been just as a force in the league as her husband, but while Brent is known for being a good cornerback, his wife is known for being a relentless trash talker. The couple typifies the adage that opposites attract. While Brent is reserved and prefers to fly under the radar, his wife has established herself as an NFL spouse who doesn’t waste time voicing her opinions. With a woman like Miko, Brent Grimes fears nothing as she fiercely defends him on her blog and on her @iHeartMiko account on Twitter.
Although she always speaks in defense of her husband, Miko has been a fierce critic of the league. She once wrote that the NFL is the most shady and disrespectful professional sport in the world. As long as she’s breathing air, she’ll talk shit about it. She has also accused the NFL of not paying enough attention to the health of its players and belittling the incidence of field violations.
A veteran athlete and sports talk show host, Miko, unlike many NFL women, has a good knowledge of soccer. In a 2018 interview with Bleacher Report writer Mike Freeman, she revealed that she texted Brent with suggestions at halftime and had access to his Dolphins iPad (when he was still on the team), which contained team games. That being said, Miko represents her husband in various capacities while also being his hype man and personal coach.
Miko is eight years older than her husband and their marriage has produced a son named Aiden Grimes who happens to dislike football. Aiden was born in 2010.
