Somewhere in the sleepy town of Bergen in Norway, in 2015 a band called Boy Pablo was born. By 2019, the Norwegian indie pop-rock band had already become popular in different parts of the world, crossing Norwegian borders to flourish in places like the US and UK. The group’s success came quite suddenly thanks to its video which went viral on the internet.
Boy Pablo which is led by Nicolás PabloRivera Muñoz gained fame for songs like “Everytime” (2017) and “Losing You” (2018). The other members of the group are Gabriel Muñoz, its main guitarist, Eric Tryland (piano and backing vocals), Henrik Åmdal (bass guitar) and Sigmund Vestrheim (drums).

Nicolás Pablo Rivera Muñoz was born in Norway to parents of Chilean descent. They moved to Norway in the 80s and have remained there ever since. They raised their son Munoz there and he was educated at a private secondary school, Kongshaug Musikkgymnas.
He was brought up in a very quiet town that isn’t too crowded. Although he has lived most of his life in Norway, he still speaks some Spanish with his family members. Besides that, he also eats Spanish food at home and watches Spanish football while his family still has close roots.
Boy Pablo grew up as the youngest among his other siblings in a family that was in love with music. In fact, music was part of his family, so it was easy for him to start playing music at the age of 10. He would continue to perform throughout his studies.
For someone who has always loved music as he was growing up, he decided to found his band, Boy Pablo in 2015. Only a year later, the band had already caught the country’s attention and were considered the new wave. which was sweeping over Bergen.
In 2017, Pablo had already made the group very popular with the release of their song “Everytime”. So far, the group has released two EPs and several singles. The first EP released was Roy Pablo in 2016 followed by Soja Pablo in 2018. Additionally, the band have already toured a few times as they continue to work on releasing their debut studio album.

1. Boy Pablo as a band was formed by Nicolás Pablo Rivera Muñoz with some of his classmates. Although he remains the main player in the group, the others mainly offer backup and manipulation instruments. All the band members are best friends who met when they were at boarding school. At the time, all the boys were still teenagers.
2 Although the group is still quite young, it has already started decorating its shelves with some praise. In 2018 he won the Spellemann Award for Newcomer of the Year as well as the Gramo Fellowship in 2019.
3 The band’s earliest released songs, including their most popular song, Everytime, which helped the band achieve fame, were all written and produced by Boy Pablo who did it all in his bedroom. After producing Everytime, the group shared it on YouTube where it enjoyed good engagement. By 2019, the song had already been viewed nearly 20 million times. At one point, the video was viewed up to fifty thousand times in one day. Its popularity was due to a post on Reddit.
4 Describing the other band members, Pablo said that although he’s pretty laid back, the band’s guitarist Gabriel is awesome but obsessed with sneakers. The drummer, Sigmund is the funniest member of the band, Eric who is the keyboard player is the one who is very daring when challenged, and Henrik, the bass player, is extremely calm.
5. Nicolás Pablo Rivera Muñoz is not the only member of the group of Chilean origin. The guitarist of the group, Gabriel is also part Chilean since his father is from the South American country.
