As part of the undercard on Wednesday night at Sydney’s historic Hordern Pavilion, Ashleigh Sims and Shanell Dargan put on a fantastic barnburner.
The fight deserved longer than the four two-minute rounds it received, but both competitors should be happy with their efforts since they had the audience up and cheering.
Why Did Boxer Ashleigh Sims Fight With Shanell Dargan?
Sims and Lucas intended to start the fight aggressively and to position themselves in the pocket. However, they did not anticipate Dargan acting in the same manner.
Sims remarked, “In the first round, the game plan kind of went out the window.”
“It was done to go closer and enter the area.
“We undoubtedly made my night a little more complicated because, in the first round, we didn’t anticipate her to go out firing on all cylinders as early as she did.
“We anticipated her performance to be a little more polished and natural. “My lack of ring experience and my absence from the ring for three years all contributed.
Sims said My coach was in the corner, but I couldn’t hear him. So I tried to listen to him and follow his directions, but the noise from the throng made it impossible.
“At the time, I didn’t give it much thought; I was just becoming irritated that I couldn’t hear him, and It wasn’t until later that he said, “I’ve never heard a crowd go so crazy before,” as I sat down with him. And I responded, “Oh, alright.
Even though the fight ended in a majority tie (38-38 twice, 39-37 Dargan), it’s doubtful that this will be the last time the two-step foot in a ring together.
