Requirements

  • Burkinabés traveling to Botswana can apply for the Botswana tourist visa.
  • The Botswana tourist visa is valid for 30 days.
  • Travelers will have to transit through South Africa to get to Botswana.
  • Fingerprints will be captured at the point of entry in Botswana. Applicants will be required to have their finger captured as one of the requirements.
  • Applicants are required to provide a cover letter. If you are coming by road, specify on the cover letter and include your contacts, e.g. telephone number.
  • Travel schedule, flight itinerary, and hotel bookings are required by travelers. 
  • You are required to include a prepaid/self-addressed shipping label or envelope to return your passport.

  • Requirements for Minors Entering Botswana are as follows:

    • a certified copy of the child’s unabridged birth certificate.

  • Travelers arriving in Botswana via South Africa should be aware of serious and continuing baggage pilferage problems at OR Tambo (Johannesburg) and Cape Town International Airports. You should:

    • use an airport plastic wrapping service;
    • avoid placing valuables in checked luggage;
    • make an inventory of items in checked baggage to file claims if a theft does occur;
    • If asked to gate check a piece of hand luggage, transfer high-value items and prescription drugs into a carry-on bag.
  •  Botswana strictly enforces its laws controlling trade in animal products, often by means of spot checks for illegal products on roadways or at airports.
  • Violators are subject to arrest and may face a penalty of up to five years imprisonment and substantial fines.
