Bootsy Collins Monster Mash
Legendary bassist Bootsy Collins and acclaimed guitarist Buckethead joined forces for a cover of “Monster Mash.” The pair’s new single has been accompanied by a spooky video produced and directed by Ouiwey Collins.
Bobby “Boris” Pickett originally released “Monster Mash” in 1962 and the song quickly became a Halloween season staple. “I believe I was 11 years old and was a big Boris Karloff fan-junkie. In fact, Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney and Vincent Price — all the big monsters — were my heroes. When I heard ‘Monster Mash’ recorded by Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett in 1962, it became my all-time superhero theme song,” Bootsy told Rolling Stone. “I always wanted to record it, and do something special with it. Buckethead and I have been talking about it for over a decade, and I finally said we can’t wait any longer — let’s do the mash now! So I went to my lab late one night and funked some sheet up, and, boom!”
Bootsy handled production duties and created the arrangement with Buckethead. Drummer Ouiwey Collins, guitarist Rod Castro and vocalist Emmaline Campbell also contributed to Bootsy and Buckethead’s “Monster Mash.”

Bootsy Collins Retired
One of the architects of Funk music is renowned bassist Bootsy Collins. His work with George Clinton’s Parliament-Funkadelic, as a member of the James Brown backing band The JB’s, and his solo discography are a major influence in shaping Black music. Bootsy’s music has been heavily sampled by Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Outkast, Timbaland, Childish Gambino and just about everyone else since the birth of Hip-Hop. But Bootzilla will be hanging up his bass as he prepares to retire from live performances. In a Facebook post, Collins announced that due to health reasons he will no longer be able to perform live.
“Time has come for Me to tell all our Funkateers that I will Not be Playing Bass in Concerts anymore. I have decided to become a Coach for up & coming Musicians. I know u r Disappointed just think for a moment how I feel. Doc said to much pressure on my Inner-Ear & Right Hand. Yeah, I had to make up my Mind, so I did. 2019 Sheriff Ping Ping Ping will continue to Funk from the Studio but Not Live playing Bass on Stage. I know u got question & I don’t have answers, maybe one day u to will understand. Just remember; That This Year will be the Funkiest Year of them All. Watch for it. Bootsy baby!!!”
But don’t think that this is the end of the road for the 67-year-old bass prodigy Mr. Collins has plans to become a coach for up-and-coming musicians and “will continue to funk from the studio.” He assured his fans that he will release new music in 2019.
Bootsy Collins Do You Love Me Lyrics
You didn’t even want me around.
And now I’m back to let you know I can really shake ’em down.
(I can really move, )
Do you love me?
(I’m in the groove.)
(Do you love me now that I can dance?)
Watch me, now.
(Work, work)
Ah, work it out, baby.
(work, work)
Well, you’re drivin’ me crazy.
(work, work)
With just a little bit of soul, now
(work!)
Tell me, baby, do you like it like this?
Tell me,
(Tell me, )
Tell me.
(I can really move, )
Do you love me?
(I’m in the groove.)
Now, do you love me?
(Do you love me now that I can dance?)
Watch me, now.
Ah, work it out, baby.
(work, work)
Well, you’re drivin’ me crazy.
(work, work)
With just a little bit of soul, now
(work!)
Now I can mash potatoes, I can do the twist,
Tell me, baby, do you like it like this?
Tell me,
(Tell me, )
