After being born in Forfar, Scott grew up in Kirriemuir, Angus, Scotland. He moved to Australia with his family when he was six years old, spending four years in Melbourne before settling in Fremantle, Western Australia.
Ben Scott married Irene Thornton, an Adelaide beauty, in 1972 after courting her for a year.
They were unable to maintain their marriage life for long and divorced five years later, in 1977. Thornton has penned several novels about Bon Scott and her relationship with him.
