At the age of 91, American bluegrass musician Bobby Van Osborne passed away unexpectedly. The Bluegrass Band shared the news of his passing by posting the following statement on their social media platform.
Bobby Van Osborne, a bluegrass musician, was born on December 7th, 1931 in the US. He belongs to the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame as well as the Grand Ole Opry.
Together with his brother Sonny Osborne, he co-founded the Osborne Brothers. In 1953, Osborne received an honorable discharge after serving in the US Marine Corps. For his valor, he received the Purple Heart.
Osborne teaches bluegrass music at the Kentucky School of Bluegrass and Traditional Music in Hyden, Kentucky, and plays the mandolin as his primary instrument.
