Bob Unkefer’s death cause and obituary have been released on the web. The announcer died at the age of 68.
Bob Unkefer started hanging out at the quarter-mile track when he was 14 years old, and as an adult, he had a number of jobs that required him to be in a shop with a car on the blocks.
He ultimately found his way to American Family Insurance, where he worked Monday through Friday as an auto claims adjuster for 30 years.
He became interested in everything as he grew older, including a quarter-mile track. His passion for drag racing was undeniable. He was only in front of the microphone during his “peak working hours.”
