The main singer and songwriter for Los Angeles bands Thelonious Monster and The Bicycle Thief is Robert O’Neil “Bob” Forrest (born February 15, 1961). Modern Folk And Blues Wednesday, his debut solo album, was released in September 2006. He’s also a drug counsellor who has been on Celebrity Rehab and Sober House with Dr. Drew Pinsky. On the I’m Not There soundtrack, he contributed the song “Moonshiner.” Forrest was the previous Director of the Las Encinas Hospital’s Chemical Dependency Program. He founded Hollywood Recovery Services with co-founder Shelly Sprague in 2010. Forrest is also renowned for being a close friend of Red Hot Chili Peppers bandmates Flea and
Anthony Kiedis, who was previously Forrest’s drug companion and subsequently got clean with Forrest’s assistance. Forrest’s bands and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have a lengthy history together. John Frusciante was supposed to join Thelonious Monster in 1988, but instead joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers, while Josh Klinghoffer, the current Chili Peppers guitarist, performed with both Thelonious Monster and The Bicycle Thief. Since the mid-1980s, Forrest has played with the Red Hot Chili Peppers on many occasions, most recently in 2009 at an awards ceremony recognising Kiedis for his dedication to assisting other addicts with the addiction and recovery process. He started releasing a series of live recordings in 2008.
