Blake Edwards (born William Blake Crump on July 26, 1922, died on December 15, 2010) was an American film director, screenwriter, and producer who worked in the film industry for almost four decades.
Although Edwards started his professional career as an actor in the 1940s, he quickly transitioned to writing screenplays and radio scripts before moving on to producing and directing in the film and television industries. Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Days of Wine and Roses, and the immensely popular Pink Panther film trilogy, in which he co-starred with British comic Peter Sellers, are among his best-known works.
Despite the fact that he is most known as a filmmaker of comedy, he has also directed tragedies and detective films. Late in his career, he made the move from film to theatre, where he wrote, produced, and directed plays. In 2004, he was presented with an Honorary Academy Award in honour of his remarkable body of work for the film, which included writing, directing, and producing.
