Black Adam Origins
In terms of origin of the character, Black Adam first appeared in the DC Comic’s Marvel family issue no. 1 way back in 1945. Black Adam was brought to comics by writers Otto Binder and C.C. Beck.
Although there have been many iterations of the Black Adam origins, we are looking into the most popular one that is known among the fans of the comics is the one from the Shazam comics.
Black Adam or Teth Adam along with his nephew Aman were slaves. Aman was basically the first one who the wizard bestowed upon the power similar to what he later on gives to Shazam or Billy Batson inorder to save his uncle Teth Adam and his home Kahndaq.
Teth Adam persuades Aman to use his powers to take revenge against the oppressors and the killers of their family. However, Aman refuses to do so. Hence, Teth Adam steals his nephew’s power given to him by the wizard Shazam.
Teth Adam upon gaining the power of Shazam, destroys the oppressors and the rulers of Khandaq. Due to his actions, he is deemed unworthy to wield such power and thus he is imprisoned for eternity. Black Adam was supposed to be a hero, however, later on due to circumstances and his craving for more power, Teth Adam turns into a villain or Black Adam.
Black Adam is later freed from his imprisonment and he comes alive in the present day with the viewpoint of a man from his time way back and wielding so much power.
Black Adam VS Superman
Black Adam is considered one of the most powerful entities across the DC comic verse along with Superman and others. Hence why, there are many people all around discussing and debating if Black Adam could best Superman in a one vs one duel.
The discussion and debates have been heightened from the return of Henry Cavill as Superman in the Black Adam movie in a cameo role. Although, Black Adam is considered to be extremely powerful and can defeat most of the entities across the DC universe, however, when it comes to superman, he belongs on different pedestal altogether. Superman is considered as well as regarded by many if not all to be the most powerful and strongest superhero of all out there.
With his only disadvantage being the kryptonite, Superman is almost entirely invincible and to try to defeat him would take a herculean effort from anyone and still they would most likely fail.
Not many people who have faced superman come out victorious and a select few who have managed to win temporarily have had to come up with ultimate plans and strategies to contain him briefly. Batman is one such character, who with his mind and the use of kryptonite has been able to neutralize Superman on couple of occasions.
Another thing to consider when we discuss Superman is that he mostly pulls back his punches so that he wouldn’t just obliterate the opponents. However, we have seen few times where superman has gone all in without any restrictions and we cannot say that the opposing party has emerged positively from the bout.
Black Adam in his own right is really powerful and one of the strongest being out there when we discuss about the comic versre and can go toe to toe with anyone out there with a great probability of coming out as the victor. However, Superman himself is really powerful and the man of steel is almost indestructible. As previously mentioned, only thing that slows down superman to some extent is the kryptonite and someone without it trying to duel superman has a tall task at their hands in besting him.
Hence, considering all things, we would say that Superman would best Black Adam most of the time if not always if they were to duel each other. However, superman being a noble and a caring guy would approach the battle in a different mindset than someone like Black Adam, who is ruthless and unforgiving to his core.
Who is Shazam?
Billy Batson or more commonly known as Shazam is a comic book superhero appearing in DC comics. First created in 1939 as Captain Marvel by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck, Captain Marvel or Shazam is one of the oldest or one of the first ones that was created during the golden age or golden era of comics.
Billy Batson is a foster child who has been with many families but he ends up running away from them more often than not. Billy Batson was separated from his mother while he was a child. So, Billy tries to reunite with his mother searching for her everywhere trying number of different tricks up his sleeve, which are also the reasons for him getting into trouble.
One day, Billy is summoned in front of the old wizard Shazam, who is convinced that Billy is the one that is worthy to be his champion as he believed that Billy is pure of heart and incorruptible. Thus, Billy was bestowed with the power of Shazam by the Wizard as his last champion.
Shazam, the name itself is the abbreviation for Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury. By speaking the name Shazam, Billy would turn into his full potential wielding the wisdom of Solomon, strength of Hercules, stamina of Atlas, power of Zeus, courage of Achilles, and finally the speed of Mercury.
Black Adam VS Shazam
Given that, Black Adam and Shazam are connected to each other and their power source and structure are similar, things are a bit different. Both have been powered by the Gods or wield the power of the Gods. We pointed out previously that Black Adam or anyone for that matter would find it very difficult and impossible to defeat Superman. However, when it comes to Black Adam and Shazam, it gets more interesting.
The difference between Shazam and Black Adam is that Black Adam is the more mature one and has had more time using the powers and understanding it. Likewise, Shazam being a kid doesn’t match up to Black Adam when it comes to using their powers as Black Adam is more ruthless and devastating.
We would say that Black Adam and Shazam are equally powerful and have the ability and capacity to defeat each other. However, as everything stands the way it is currently, the advantage would have to go towards Black Adam, which by no means is a shade towards Shazam as they’re both equally powerful as stated above.
Lastly, the Black Adam movie just hit the theaters recently and we are very excited and enthusiastic to watch the story of Black Adam unfold in the big screen. The character and story of Black Adam is very enticing and engaging. Hence, we believe that the movie has a great opportunity to be a classic if done properly. We cannot wait to watch it and see how the creators have tried to bring the story of Black Adam to the silver screen.
