Biography of Ryan Dusick – American Musician and Former Maroon 5 Member

In the early to mid-90s some high school kids decided to form a band called Flowers of Kara, had anyone told them what a brand they would become they probably wouldn’t have laughed. Ten years later, Maroon 5, formerly known as Kara’s Flowers, are one of the hottest pop rock bands on the planet. We are now publishing a biography of one of its early mainstays, Ryan Dusick.

Ryan Dusick Biography

Ryan Dusick was born in Los Angeles, California, United States on September 19, 1977. For Ryan Dusick, his rise in the music world began while he was still in high school. He attended a preparatory school called Brentwood School. It was there that Dusick met Adam Levine and the two men quickly got into music. They joined forces with Jesse Carmichael and Mickey Madden to form Kara’s Flowers.

The time spent making music hurt their academics, but their efforts soon began to pay off. They had their first official gig playing at the famous Los Angeles club the Whisky-a-Go-Go. This release resulted in the band signing a recording contract with Reprise Records, a Warner Brothers label.

Ryan played drums, Adam was the vocalist band leader, Jesse was the keyboardist while Mickey had the bass. They began to attract many fans in and around the City of Angels and they released their first and only album in 1997, titled Le quart monde. The album never really struck a chord with the public and after a brief tour, later in 1999 Kara’s Flowers disbanded. Ryan Dusick took off for college at the University of California, Los Angeles, as did the rest of the band. Dusick majored in English.

Birth of Maroon 5

By the time everyone was done with college, they were reunited again in 2001. It was during this time that the band attempted to forge a new path. They soon met James Valentine who had come to Los Angeles around this time and extended an invitation to him to join them. After the quintet was completed, the group was christened as the revamped Maroon 5. They set out to write new songs, mostly inspired by Adam Levine’s recently failed relationship. In June 2002, Maroon 5 signed a deal with Octone Records and released the album. Songs About Jane.

The group began to make serious strides on the music scene after performing as the opening act for John Mayer on a summer tour in 2003. In 2005, at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards, the group was named Best New artist. There was another Grammy Award the following year and the band toured constantly.

Why did Ryan Dusick leave Maroon 5?

It turns out that following the constant on tour, Dusick became an unfortunate victim by injuring his arm. He was forced to stop playing at the end of 2004 and he underwent tests in an attempt to recover. However, it became apparent that Dusick could no longer continue and was replaced by Matt Flynn in September 2006.

After the unfortunate injury that led to Dusick leaving Maroon 5, he kept his head above water and was credited with the title “Music Director” in the liner notes for the band’s second album. It won’t be soon before which was released in 2007. Dusick also produced Former Future’s debut album, the album was titled All the Things We Said.
