William Rober Picken played Australian rules football for the Sydney Swans and the Collingwood Football Club in the 1970s and 1980s.
Sadly, the sports icon passed away on 23 July 2022, at 66.
Originally known as the Victorian Football League and mostly played in the Australian State of Victoria, the league changed its name to the Australian Football League in 1990 as the popularity of the sport increased.
The league achieved its level of popularity in part due to the contributions of players like Picken in the 1970s and 1980s.
