William Thomas Hader Jr. was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 7, 1978. He is an American actor, comedian, writer, producer, and director. He is the son of Sherri Renee and William Thomas Hader Sr., who held a variety of jobs, including that of a stand-up comedian, restaurant manager, owner of an air cargo firm, and truck driver.
Katie and Kara, Hader’s younger sisters, are named. He has Irish, German, English, and Danish ancestry. Hader went to Edison Junior High, Cascia Hall Preparatory School, and Patrick Henry Primary School.
He had trouble concentrating in class and passed his free time reading and watching movies. He loved British comedies, including Monty Python, and was introduced to Woody Allen and Mel Brooks movies by his father.
Together with his pals, he performed in a school production of The Glass Menagerie and produced short films.
Hader’s subpar academic performance prevented him from being accepted into prestigious film schools, so he enrolled at The Art Institute of Phoenix and later Scottsdale Community College. He held a number of strange jobs, such as selling Christmas trees and ushering at a Tempe movie theater, where he was fired for giving rowdy patrons the spoiler for Titanic’s conclusion.
Hader first met Paper Heart director Nicholas Jasenovec at Scottsdale Community College. Hader became well-known for his eight-year career from 2005 to 2013 as a cast member of the venerable NBC sketch comedy program Saturday Night Live.
