Bill Fitch Cause Of Death: How Did Bill Fitch Die?

Bill Fitch, a two-time Coach of the Year who led the Boston Celtics to an NBA championship in 1981, died Wednesday at the age of 89. His death was confirmed by his daughter Marcy Ann Coville via Pacers coach Rick Carlisle.

Fitch has lost more games (1,106) than any coach in NBA history except Lenny Wilkens (1,155). But he lost so much only because he was respected enough to have so many opportunities.

Fitch has won 944 games, 11th all-time (behind only Don Nelson, Lenny Wilkens, Gregg Popovich, Jerry Sloan, Pat Riley, George Karl, Phil Jackson, Larry Brown, Rick Adelman and Doc Rivers).
