Following the promotion’s rebranding as NXT, Cassady teamed up with his longtime friend, Enzo Amore, in portraying himself as “the realest guys in the room.” They had well-documented conflicts with the likes of Mason Ryan, Alexander Rusev, Scott Dawson and Sylvester Lefort. Enzo and Cassady continued to contend for the NXT Tag Team Championship, but often fell short to other teams.

Career achievements and injuries

In 2016, Amore and Cassady finally debuted as Raw main wrestlers. They defeated The Ascension (Conor O’Brian and Rick Victor) en route to becoming the top contender for the WWE Tag Team Championship. However, they failed to defeat the Vaudevillians after Enzo suffered a legitimate concussion.

That same month, the Queen’s wrestler changed his name in the Big Cass ring as he and his tag team partner continued to battle for the Tag Team Championship against The New Day, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. They also had a brief alliance with John Cena before being officially named to the Raw brand at the 2016 WWE Draft. Here he recorded a huge victory, but a non-title match against United States Champion Rusev was leads to a feud between fighter Big Cass and Enzo.

In order to further his single career, a story reveal revealed that Big Cass was the mastermind behind the attack Enzo suffered earlier in their partnership. Cass admitted this and attacked Enzo, ending their partnership.

After a few run-ins with his former partner and a feud with Big Show, Big Cass suffered a legitimate torn anterior cruciate ligament that kept him out of competition for eight months.

Cass came back fitter and tanned. It was authored by SmackDown at the 2018 Superstar Shake-up. Here he lined up with Shinsuke Nakamura against Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles. Unfortunately, he was released from his WWE contract following the loss to Bryan on June 19, 2018.
