Although he was born in Mombasa he had to relocate Nyeri where he started his business life. In Nyeri, Bhimji Depar opened a petrol station in the town.

Bhimji Depar was arguably born into a wealthy family. When he moved from Mombasa to Nyeri, he set up a filling station and briefly after that in 1970, he built the Bidco Industries Limited.
The company focused on garments manufacturing and in 1985, the company introduced soap production to its numerous products. By 1991, Bidco had opened up an edible oil manufacturing plant in Thika with its international headquarters in the Northeast of Nairobi, Kenya.
