American multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter Benjamin Lev Kweller was born on June 16, 1981.
Former member of Radish, Kweller has six solo albums to his name and has participated in a number of group projects.
In 1981, San Francisco was the place of birth for Ben Kweller. His family moved to Emory, Texas in 1982 where his father, Howard Kweller, established himself as the community’s first physician. The Kwellers relocated in 1986 to Greenville, a bigger town in Texas. Guitarist Nils Lofgren grew up in Maryland with Kweller’s father, so Kweller mailed him a copy of Dizzy. Although Roger Greenawalt was producing Lofgren’s record Damaged Goods at the time, Lofgren was pleased with Radish and suggested them to him. In order to produce a demo tape, Greenawalt brought Radish to a recording studio. This tape was then distributed to record labels all across the country.
