Ben Cooper is a British Antiques dealer. He is also a singer, chair of Worcester 3 Choirs Festival, an expert on BBC’s Bargain Hunt, and also an antiques fairs organizer. As a small boy, he would be taken to antiques shops and fairs. At the age of 8, he was given his first antique, which was a fob seal that had belonged to my grandmother. Since then he was encouraged to collect more and was given many by his father. From that point, his love of antiques began.
When Cooper left school, he had to choose between, antiques or music. He chose antiques as music is his true escape, he is also quite a good cook. He first sold to Bargain Hunt in its early days, when he had a stand at the Malvern Antiques Fair. He had no idea that one day he would be an expert on the show. About 5 years ago Bargain Hunt went to Leominster, then he first formally met members of the crew. To his surprise, he was asked for a screen test and was invited to join the team of experts in September 2014.
Cooper sings in various choirs, which includes the Worcester Festival Choral Society, a large chorus of 150 members, though that he has been selected to sing in the Three Choirs Festival, the longest-running music festival in the world, over 300 years old!. He also sings in an acapella group called ‘Men in General’, just five blokes who have a lot of fun touring the UK with their own arrangements of well know songs coupled with silliness!!
