Nengi was born into a very poor family [According to Nengi], while she was growing up she lost her father at 2 and lost her Mother in 2008.

After her father died, Nengi’s mother was left to support the family. She sold recharge cards. Nengi later moved to Bayelsa state, her aunt’s house after her mother died of kidney diseases. Nengi who is a model, won a pageantry contest and used the money to further her education. She studied communications at the University of Port Harcourt.
